ARTCI Conference at JNTIC exhibition 2015 theme: "Protecting Personal Data: Challenges and Prospects for Côte d'Ivoire"
A public conference was held Tuesday, May 19, 2016 at 15:00 at salle des fêtes in hotel ivoire at JNTIC 2015. Moderated by Mr. Abraham DJEKOU, Technical Adviser of the Managing Director of ARTCI, this panel was presented by the following persons: Mr. Héracles ASSOKO (Lawyer), Linda YAO (working at the service of Protection of Personal Data at DDLA) and Coulibaly Nahoua (Head of service of Protection of Personal Data at DCSEO).
The objective of this meeting was to inform, raise awareness on PPD. Mr. Assoko presented the legal and institutional framework of the new law. It is a right for anyone to have their personal information undisclosed, and for a company to protect the information of its customers. A criminal and administrative sanction is provided for to punish violators of this law. For Mr. Assoko, it is a useful law for Côte d'Ivoire, the context of globalization requires us to share data on the web. As for Miss Linda YAO from the Legal Department, personal data consist of any piece of information that identifies an individual. She then defined all technical terms related to the law while describing the issues related to it: traceability, safety and accessibility of data. The head of PPD department at DCSEO, Coulibaly Nahoua focused on security of personal data. The related risks may have an economic impact up to closing a business or disclosure of privacy and identity theft for harmful purposes. He therefore called for the audience to greater vigilance in all their actions, and give advice for the application.
